Recreation: Refuges

The Upper Klamath National Wildlife Refuge is a 14,376-acre refuge consisting mainly of marsh and open water. It is accessible only by boat. Air thrust and inboard water-thrust boats are prohibited. State boating regulations apply.

Only geese, ducks, coot, and snipe may be hunted on the refuge. All decoys, hunting blinds, boats, and personal property must be removed at the end of each day.

On the Lower Klamath/Tule Lake Refuge, only geese, ducks, mergansers, coots, moorhens, snipe and pheasants can be hunted. An annual pass is required on the Tule Lake and Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuges.

Non-toxic shot must be used to hunt all huntable species on the refuges. Boats may be used on all areas open to waterfowl hunting. Camping and overnight parking are not permitted.
