Recreation: River Fishing

Williamson River
You could be just a cast away from landing the biggest trophy-size trout of your lifetime! "The Williamson is considered by many to be the best trophy rainbow stream in the Western United States." Michael Fong, Fly Fisherman.

Enjoy trolling the lower portion of the Williamson, or flyfishing on the famous upper portion of the river. Trophy, wild, redband, rainbow and brown trout are abundant in this crystal clear spring-fed river. Five pound trout are common and fish up to eighteen pounds have been reported. Professional fishing guides are advisable. Access points are available at Williamson River Campground, Collier State Park and downriver, near Chiloquin, OR.

Lonesome Duck Ranch & Resort is your premium fishing vacation location! They are certified licensed guides as well as wonderful hosts. A day on the river is enjoyable as well as educational. Spend a day or two with a guide then use the ranch boats to fish on your own. "Sitting on our porch, you're only a cast away from a trophy trout...a blink away from sighting a bald eagle in flight..a deep breath away from total relaxation."

Wood River
Klamath County's Wood River is a quiet step back in time. These slow, clear and cold spring waters hold large numbers of healthy resident brown and redband rainbow trout. The Wood River is ideal for dry fly fishing with its endless cut banks and grassy turns. All of this world class fishing rests in the shadow of Crater Lake's glory. Fishing the Wood River is a must do while visiting the beautiful Klamath Basin.

The Wood River Day Use Area offers four picnic sites at 4,200 feet elevation. The area offers fully accessible trails, fishing platforms and restrooms, but bring your own drinking water. Picnicking, fishing and wildlife viewing are popular activities. There is no fee for use of the area and tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Klamath River
A federally designated wild and scenic River, the Klamath River cuts through steep canyons and offers some of the best dry fly action you may ever see. Trout fishing is an often overlooked sport on the Klamath, yet the local rainbow trout are occasionally larger than the steelhead. Local guides can help you find the big ones, regardless of the tackle you prefer.
