| | The Creativity Collective is proud to announce ARTVENTURE,
a free art adventure & treasure hunt for the whole family!
Every 2nd Saturday from 11-3, starting July 9, 2011.
Free family activities & entertainment.
Some weekends will integrate Veterans & Stukel Parks.
HOW IT WORKS:
Families pick up their Artvoucher treasure maps at the Children’s Museum (711 E. Main St.) at 11 a.m. and set out to visit each of the participating locations for their stamp or sticker.
Completed Artvoucher treasure maps are put into a raffle for a treasure chest at the end of the day when it is raffled off to a winner.
Every month has a different theme. Additional dates and themes:

Time: Doors open @12:00pm, Set-up 12:30pm, Serving starts @ 1:30pm, Judging 2:00pm, Entertainment 2:00pm.
Make the chili of your choice. One entry per team. Recommended 7-9 quarts (Must have enough for Guest Judges (6-10), Public Judging and random Public). Chili can be made at home and brought to VFW. You must bring something to keep food warm. Samples can be sold to non-judging public for $1, but contestant MUST have enough chili for all Judges. A “Sample” size is up to the contestant, but it is recommended that samples to non-judges are at least 1 cup. Cups and spoons provided by the VFW. Contestants will have an area approximately 6’x6’ to display, decorate and entertain judges. This is suppose to be fun, so decorate and dress accordingly.
There will be a limited amount of contestants. To enter, contact the VFW with your name, phone and “Team Name”.

 The public can become a Judge by purchasing a $5 Judging Card. One card per Judge. Card allows one sample of each contestant’s entry. Public Judging will be based on a 0-5 scale (0 = bad, 5= excellent). It is recommended that contestants bring in as many “friends” to participate as judges as possible to increase chances. Guest Judging will consist of 6-10 judges (currently Mayor Kellstrom, Police Chief Hunter & VFW Post Commander Ron Ballard) Guest Judging will be based off of the same scale as Public Judges. There will be Secret Judges roaming. They will be judging “Entertainment” value. This is how you dress and decorate your area. The more fun and festive your area is, the more points you will score.There are 3 prizes given out for this event. There will be a $50 cash prize for “Public’s Choice”, a $50 for “Guest Judge’s Choice” and a $100 for “Overall Best of Show” which will include scores from Public, Guest and Secret Judges. The “Swing Richards” will be playing and keeping you movin’ throughout the event.

| | For the month of February, the Klamath Art Association and Gallery is hosting its annual invitational exhibition "In Celebration of Birds," in conjunction with the Winter Wings Festival. Artists and photographers from all over the region have been invited to participate. Visitors can expect to see images depicting North American native bird life in a wide variety of media and styles. Paintings, drawings, sculptures, and photographs will amaze and delight. The show will open with a public reception for the artists on Sunday February 5th from noon to 4 pm. People's Choice awards will be awarded based on votes from people attending the opening. The exhibit will continue until Sunday February 26th.

9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Bringing the Logging Museum to life. Belching stream,
grinding gears, the roar of antique engines, and the chinking of horse's
harnesses will fill the air and delight children and adults alike.
Unique museum demonstrations will include: live steam engines, operating
old-time shingle mill, antique engines, operating antique Caterpillar
tractors, horse and wagon team, hay rides, operating antique sawmill,
chainsaw sculptures, museum tours, blacksmith demonstrations, spinning and
weaving, period clothing and special entertainment.
Reminisce with the old-timers about the machines, lifestyles, and adventures
they had. Experience our pioneer legacy, and discover for yourself just what
sparks the excitement that makes Living History Day at Collier State Park so
special.
