Attractions: Theaters & Performing Arts

Klamath County history is rich in theaters and performing art - in the 1940's there were six theaters, some for movies - some for live performances. Shoot-'em-up westerns could be seen at the Vox, Rainbow, and Pine Tree theaters and more sophisticated offerings were shown at the elegant Pelican and the then newly constructed art deco Esquire and suburban Tower theater. A drive-in theater was also a popular hang-out in the 1970's. Today, Klamath Falls has one movie theater and two performing arts theaters.

The former Esquire Theater which was built in 1940, is now the Ross Ragland Theater and Cultural Center. This Art Deco Style building with its six-story, brightly lit, neon tower is a notable historical landmark. This performing visual arts center features live performances that range from ballet, jazz and country western music to off Broadway shows such as Carmen.

In July & August, plan to attend their Cascade Summer Concerts - Lake Ewauna Music Festival held at Veterans Park. Relax in a beautiful setting to delightful entertainment, enjoy a meal from one of the vendors and visit with friends and neighbors.
